Solvents
Also known as: Glues, Gases, Aerosols.
Looks like: Any type of glue or aerosol can be misused, including hairspray, gas lighter refills, paints.
How it is taken: Inhaled into lungs through nose or mouth from a cloth. Gas is sometimes sprayed into the back of the throat.
The effects: Similar to being very drunk. May distort all the senses. May cause hallucinations. Effects are short-lived.
Downside: User may get blotches around nose and mouth. Effect on senses may cause the user to have an accident. May cause sickness, fainting, blackouts, difficulty breathing and heart problems. This can sometimes be fatal. Long term use of glue can damage the brain, liver and kidneys. Your first time could be your last time.

The Law: Controlled under the Intoxicating Substances (Suppy) Act. Illegal for shopkeepers to sell to under 18’s or for people to buy them for an under 18, if they suspect the solvent may be abused.
